Styles flourished in the game by people finding more and more convoluted ways to animation cancel into sequences that made them more dangerous and faster. It gave you the ability to move and attack at the same time with a melee weapon. Jump, slash, block, dash, slash, block was the basis of the game - called Butterfly. You could cancel your shooting into a weapon swap to your sword into a block. You could cancel your slash into your block and have both 'happen'. Accidentally, they made it to where you could animation cancel anything. None of that made it a good game, though. They leaned into the matrix thing, you see. You had some guns, you had swords that could block bullets, and the unique gimmick was the ability to run on walls and do flips and dashes. It's fun was a bit of an anomaly, though - it technically did everything 'correct' but extremely standard. GunZ was a fun third person shooter from back in 2005. You have become the problem with the game. You are making the same mistakes you made fun of Blizzard for making. Life is short, time can't be replaced, and you're wasting so much of ours. The vast majority of players, however, do not have the time to waste on this shit. Do literally anything else, I don't have the right answers. If you want to make a harder game, make a mode that caps your defenses at a lower number, and also inflicts a penalty to quant and magic find, since that seems to be what you want to play. This is the shit ActivizionBlizzard has been pulling for years, divorcing their "vision" from what the players actually enjoy doing in the game, hemorrhaging subscribers and good will in the process. But you know that the backlash will be enormous and you're terrified of that. If the Vision was actually a good vision you'd share it in detail and explain what you want to make without any of the PR speak. Doing that to something people like already for very specific reasons (The majority of us like to zoom and juice) that are basically the opposite of the sequels design principles is, and pardon my french here, fucking braindead and egotistical beyond measure. You can make a sequel have different mechanics and people will be excited for a change of pace and different experience. You don't have to be a chef to know you're eating a shit sandwich.Īll these changes to the game are being made to ease people into the inevitable PoE2 launch patch, which will basically overwrite PoE as we know it, much like Overwatch is doing now.
